Page 1 of 1 For the 1955 F1 season Gordini developed this Gordini 32. Mercedes-Benz had proven the capabilities of a straight eight engine with their 1954 championship winning W196, this convinced Gordini to go for a similar engine. Only two cars were completed and they proved too large and heavy to be competitive.
The 32 was last entered in the 1957 Pau Grand Prix making it the last F1 car to campaign a straight eight engine. Both cars are part of the Schlumpf collection and are pictured above, one as a bare chassis and the other one with the smooth but corpulent body fitted. Page 1 of 1
