Page 1 of 1  The first of the straight 6 Mercedes road cars was the 37/65 hp, which was introduced in 1906. Soon after Mercedes added a 'sportier' version with 5 additional horses. The engine was made up of two 3 cylinder blocks, both with their own camshaft. Twin-ignition was supplied by both the magneto and the battery, each cylinder had the luxury of two spark plugs.
