Page 1 of 1  In the 1930s Packards were only driven by the very rich like movie stars and politicians. The production of cars came to a complete stop in 1942 as the US was dragged into the war. In 1946 Packard picked up production again but there was not a very big market for super luxury motors. To cope with this Packard launched a smaller and cheaper car in 1951, the 200.
