Five national BMW sales companies will back the BMW teams representing Belgium, Germany, England, Holland and Spain, who will be entering a total of eight BMW 320i's. The touring cars, powered by two-litre, six-cylinder engines, will be prepared by well-known crews and driven by leading names from the world of motor racing. Last year's title winner was Dutchman Peter Kox, competing under the German flag. In 2002 he will be defending the title on behalf of his native country. BMW Team Belgium are also fielding a car, driven by Fredrik Ekblom of Sweden. BMW Team Germany will enter two BMW 320i's, with German drivers Dirk Müller and Jörg Müller behind the wheel. The Union Jack will be emblazoned on the roofs of the cars of Tom Coronel (NL) and ex-Formula One driver Gianni Morbidelli (ITA), while BMW Team Spain will be represented by drivers Jordi Gené (ESP) and Fabrizio De Simone (ITA).
