Page 1 of 1 By the early 1960s the MG A was at the end of its lifespan and MG needed a replacement. MG opted to include more luxury items in their upcoming roadster to suit the demanding but big US market better. These changes weren't much to the liking of the purists that adored the MG A, but the MG B succeeded and production lasted into the 1980s with well over half a milion sold. In 1974 a slightly modified version was launched with rubber bumpers replacing the chrome ones to comply to US safety regulations.
