Page 1 of 1 The production of the final version of the Porsche 356 ended in 1965 and that left the new 911 as the only model. The 911 however was considerably more expensive than the 356 and the end of the 356 left a gap in the Porsche line-up.
Porsche resolved this by introducing the 912. The 912 looked similar to the contemporary 911 but it was fitted with a 4 cylinder engine instead of the 6 used in the 911. Furthermore the 912 was equipped with less luxury but it did feature all necessary equipment.
By 1970 the 912 was replaced by the 914. Page 1 of 1
