Click here to download printer friendly versionThe E65 model 7 Series was presented to the public in autumn 2001 at the Frankfurt Motorshow. Featuring typical BMW fortes such as a combination of dynamic driving qualities and motoring comfort, and boasting economical V8 petrol engines, the new model quickly became a trendsetter in the luxury performance range. The innovative iDrive control concept and a design full of distinctive character both confirm BMW's role as one of leaders in technology and innovation. Customers have also responded positively to the new concept of the car, no other 8-cylinder luxury saloon being delivered to as many customers the world over as the BMW 7 Series just half a year after its launch. And since autumn 2002, 6- and 8-cylinder diesel engines have been added to the range.

With the introduction of the 760i/760Li, the most exclusive members of the 'family' have rounded off the 7 Series at the topmost end of the BMW model range. Both models feature a 12-cylinder petrol engine with maximum output of 445 bhp from 6.0 litres engine displacement. The 760Li stands out from the 760i through its high-end rear compartment and wheelbase extended by 14 cm/5.5".

Offering a wide range of outstanding features in drivetrain technology and a sophisticated level of equipment, the top models in the BMW range rank right at the top in automotive engineering. The most outstanding example clearly is the 12-cylinder power unit, the world's first direct-injection 12-cylinder to enter the market. The 760i/760Li therefore marks the third generation in BMW's tradition of successful 12-cylinder saloons, following the first two V12 models built with a total production volume of approximately 96,500 units between 1987 and 2001 and giving BMW the position of the world's largest V12 manufacturer.

The BMW V12 offers both the driver and the passengers alike a sophisticated standard of motoring in genuine style. Simply because a 12-cylinder power unit is the very best drive technology a saloon in the top luxury performance range is able to offer: Smoothness and refinement combined with determined acceleration to provide a unique experience in class, power and performance. And it is fair to say that the BMW V12 is so quiet that it is impossible to hear with the engine idling or when travelling at a steady pace.
