Page 1 of 1 BMW picked Bertone to body their top of the line coupe, the 3200 CS, which replaced the 503 Coupe. Both the design and construction of the body were the responsibility of the Italian coachbuilder. The 3200 CS was first launched at the 1961 Frankfurt Motorshow and production of the coupe started in the following year. Production of the handsome cars lasted just over three years, with 603 examples produced, of which 602 were regular coupes.
As a gift for BMW principle Herbert Quandt Bertone designed and built a one-off convertible body for the 3200 CS. Today this unique vehicle still exists and was shown to the 2003 Techno Classica Crowd, celebrating the eighty years of BMW convertibles. Page 1 of 1
