Page 1 of 1 Developed by Ford as a promotional vehicle at the time of the new Transit van range launch in 2001, the World Rally Transit combines all the features of a load-carrying rally support vehicle with 130mph performance and a rally car-style interior. Based on the rear wheel Transit, the WRT features a tuned 200bhp Ford Duratorq 2.5 litre diesel engine, stiffened suspension, large front splitter and specially-made Oz racing wheels.
Rally drivers are very much at home behind the wheel as the seats, steering wheel and a lot of the instrumentation were taken from an actual Focus WRC car. A specially-designed roll cage for the WRT and full-harness safety belts for the two occupants complete the interior package. The exterior livery - red, blue and white with much Valvoline and Martini emphasis - is based on that being carried at the time by the 'works' Focus WRCs. Along with its W1 WRT number plate, the World Rally Transit is unmistakable. Page 1 of 1
