As in its predecessor, the heart of the special edition Touareg is the powerful twelve-cylinder engine. From six litres capacity it produces 450 PS and 600 newton metres torque. It enables the Touareg to accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and reach an electronically limited maximum speed of 250 km/h. The power transmission occurs via a six-speed automatic gearbox with Tiptronic-function.

The sporting look of the new special edition Touareg does full justice to its name: the roof spoiler and widened wheel arches and sills combined with "Casablanca" 20-inch alloy wheels clearly emphasise the Touareg W12 Sport Edition's muscular character.

The silver coloured roof rack, darkened rear and side windows, and colour-coded bumpers round off its supremely confident sporting look. The twin tailpipes with sound tuned exhaust bring home the message of power visually and acoustically.

The themes of sport and luxury consistently characterise the Touareg's interior. The refined Individual sports seats in nappa leather and the aluminium "Micropoint" trim exemplify the sophisticated feel of the interior. Also a 2-zone air conditioning system, the radio-DVD-navigation system with multi-function colour display plus sound system and CD changer, and fittings for a mobile phone are standard.

In addition bi-xenon headlights with cornering and bend lights are included in the package along with tiptronic levers for manual control of the automatic gearbox.

Like its predecessor, the Touareg W12 Sport, the new Touareg W12 Sport Edition has been developed by Volkswagen Individual GmbH. Volkswagen Individual also offers the six-litre W12 engine in the Touareg W12 Executive, the subtly elegant alternative to the new "Sport Edition".
