In addition to the GT1-specification racing cars, Maserati produced 50 road legal examples to meet the homologation requirements. The MC12 was immediately successful and in 2005 won the Spa 24 Hours outright at the car's first attempt. To mark that occasion, Maserati created the MC12 Corsa, which was announced early in 2006.

The MC12 Corsa was derived directly from the GT1 racing car. As such it was not road legal and could be used as a track-day car only much like the Enzo-derived Ferrari FXX. Crucially, the Corsa featured the same specification V12 engine as the racing car but with the mandatory intake restrictor removed. Breathing freely, the MC12 Corsa engine produced a hefty 745bhp. This was quite an improvement over the around 600bhp of the road car and GT1 racer. Like the other MC12 variants, the Corsa featured a paddle-operated, six-speed sequential gearbox.

The high performance V12 engine was mounted in the familiar carbon-fibre monocoque chassis with double wishbone and push-rod actuated suspension on all four corners. The body kit used was derived from the competition car and accordingly, the Corsa featured a short nose and a separate rear wing. A distinct difference between the GT1 car and the Corsa was the additional passenger seat fitted as standard in the latter. Maserati offered the car to select customers in the standard colour of 'Blue Victory' but upon request the livery could be personalised.

Priced at €1 million plus taxes, production of the MC12 Corsa was limited to just 12 customer cars. In addition to the dozen examples offered for sale, it is believed a further three were built for development and promotional purposes.
