Click here to download printer friendly versionSpectators at the 2006 Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka got an exclusive preview of the upcoming four-door Honda Civic Type R. It served as the official red flag car for the Formula 1 race and was also on display in Honda's paddock display. It should hit the Japanese market in the spring of 2007.

It shares the two-litre VTEC engine with the recently unveiled two-door Type R, but it has been further tuned to produce 220 bhp. Of course the suspension, steering and brakes are modified to cope with the additional power available compared to the regular four-door Civic.
