The car was developed in-house but with approval and support from Audi. It could very well be that the long distance racer will be offered through Audi's customer motorsport program in the future alongside the R8 LMS. In fact some of the body kit used for the TT RS is directly derived from the V10 engined machine.

The car lined up for the 250 mile race on the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife was a prototype and competed in the SP 4T class. Mechanically it is very similar to the road going TT RS and accordingly uses the same 2.5 litre turbocharged five cylinder engine, which produces 340 bhp in standard trim. Many of the car's original panels have been replaced by a very wild body kit with extended wheel-arches and a massive rear wing.

At its debut the Raeder Motorsport built TT RS was driven by Marc Hennerici, Christopher Mies and Christoph Breuer. They finished a very promising first in class. The car will be raced again in the final round of the VLN on October 30th. Lessons learned in these exploratory races will be incorporated in a possible production car.
