The car is designed exclusively for the new United Sports Car Racing series GT Daytona class for 2014.

The new car will be delivered starting in October, 2013 and be offered for sale to those teams committed to running the entire 2014 USCR season.

Jens Walther, president of Porsche Motorsport North America, is pleased that the factory has been able to move so quickly to create this endurance racecar - and build it to the upcoming 2014 USCR GT Daytona rules - so teams will have adequate time to attend all the winter test sessions in advance of the season debut at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

"We are hopeful that our current American Le Mans Series GTC customers, along with our Rolex Grand-Am competitors and new teams, will want to take advantage of this early availability," said Walther.

The 911 GT America features a Porsche flat-six 4.0 liter racing engine which will produce 470 hp and utilizes a six-speed sequential gearbox with pneumatic paddle shift system and electronic throttle. The car is based on the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racer that currently exclusively runs in the Porsche Supercup series, and features lightweight bodywork with aluminum-steel composite construction, a fuel safety cell with new quick-fill connection, new color Cosworth dash display, and new safety equipment including a rescue opening in the roof allow use of the KED system for driver stabilization.

A newly developed race braking system further improves the excellent endurance qualities compared to its successful predecessor. The 380 millimeter slotted and inner-vented steel brake rotors at the front axle are decelerated by six-piston aluminium fixed callipers. The rear axle features a four-piston version.

Retailing at $269,000 (FOB Weissach, plus shipping and parts package), the new Porsche 911 GT America is sold in North America exclusively by Porsche Motorsport North America, Inc., based in Santa Ana, California.
