Chassis:
One of the original Autodelta works cars, chassis '014' was fitted with a lightweight body for the 1968 Targa Florio where it placed an impressive 3rd overall. In 1969, it was sold to one of Carlo Chiti's preferred customers; privateer racer Aldo Bardelli. Replacing his TZ2, he raced the car extensively in local events between 1969 and 1971. At the end of their racing career, Bardelli sold both Alfa Romeos to collector Giulio Dubbini. At the end of the 1970s, the two cars were acquired by Peter Kaus, who displayed them for many years in his fabulous Rosso Bianco museum. The 33/2 was part of a line-up of new fewer than nine Tipo 33 Alfa Romeos of all types.
In 2006, the complete Rosso Bianco collection was acquired by Dutch collector Evert Louwman. He retained a large number of cars but most of the 33s, including chassis 014, were offered for sale by Simon Kidston. He found a new owner in Italy, who had admired and photographed this very car when he was just 14 years old. The new owner invited Aldo Barelli to witness the car rolling off the transporter. Reportedly Bardelli commented that the seat and rear-view mirror were still in the same position as when he last drove it. Carefully restored to full running order, while retaining many of the original patina, the rare 33/2 Spider has since been demonstrated at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and shown at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.
