Chassis:
One of seven 84Gs built for the 1984 season, this March was delivered new to the South African Kreepy Krauly Racing team to compete in the IMSA GTP championship. Fitted with a single turbo Porsche engine, it was raced by Sarel van der Merwe partnered by either Ian Scheckter or Tony Martin. The car proved quick but only rarely reliable. Early in 1985, it was fitted with a twin turbo Porsche 956 engine, effectively upgrading it to Group C specification. In this guise, it was raced at Le Mans where it qualified 24th and finished 22nd.
Soon after the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the car was sold and subsequently campaigned by the British Cosmic Racing Promotions team with Costas Los as the main driver. Partnered by the likes of Christian Danner and Tiff Needell, Los raced the Porsche-powered March for nearly two seasons. Chassis 84G-03 was eventually retired from contemporary racing at the end of 1986. It has since been restored to its 1985 Le Mans configuration, sporting the Porsche 956 engine and Kreepy Krauly livery. In this guise, it is seen here during the Dix Mille Tours round of the 2011 Historic Group C Championship.
