Chassis:
The original Lotus Type 43, chassis 43/1 made its public debut during at Spa-Francorchamps during the practice for the 1966 Belgian Grand Prix. In the hands of Jim Clark, it qualified on the front three consecutive times. At Watkins Glen this was converted into victory with was the type's only ever Grand Prix finish. Fitted with a stock-block Ford V8, it was briefly raced by Jock Russell in F5000 but with little success. In more recent years, the chassis was acquired by a great Lotus enthusiast. He spent a remarkable eight years to restore the car along with experts Hall & Hall. Needless to say, the engine proved to be the most complicated part of the process. Tracking down a suitable engine was the first issue and then getting it running turned out to be equally complex. The work was finally completed in 2013, ready in time for the Goodwood Revival which featured a tribute to Jim Clark. The beautifully restored Type 43 BRM starred in the special parade on all three days; the first time an H16-powered Lotus was driven in public since January of 1967.
