Chassis:
One of five competition cars built by Delage immediately after the War, chassis 880003 was originally campaigned by the works team with backing from wealthy businessman Walter Whatney. It was raced by the likes of Phillippe 'Phi-Phi' Etancelin and Maurice Trintignant in sports car races at Spa Francorchamps and Le Mans between 1947 and 1949. Following its works career, it was sold to future French Ferrari importer Charles Pozzi. He raced the car briefly in 1951 and went on to own it until 1981. During this period, Pozzi regularly raced the car in historic events. The rare racer only changed hands once again after 1981 when it was acquired by the current custodian in 2002. Rarely seen in recent years, it will be offered by Bonhams in their February 6th Les Grandes Marques sale in Paris. The pre-sale estimate is EUR 1.1 - 1.7 million.
