Chassis:
The first of six BT52s constructed, this particular chassis was handed to BMW at the end of the year. As such, it is probably the only surviving chassis that is not currently owned by former Brabham supremo Bernie Ecclestone. Displayed for many years in the BMW Museum, it was eventually no longer in running order. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the car's World Championship winning season, several retired BMW employees carefully restored chassis BT52-1. It was ready in time for the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed where it was reunited with Nelson Piquet. The Brazilian piloted his old Brabham up the hill throughout the weekend. In 2016, the car was back at Goodwood as part of the BMW centenary celebration, this time with Riccardo Patrese at the wheel.
