Chassis:
This is the unique McLaren M9A, which was used to develop McLaren's proprietary four-wheel drive system. Following its one-off Grand Prix appearance, at Silverstone in 1969, it was retired from contemporary racing. It was eventually acquired by the late Tom Wheatcroft and displayed in his fantastic Donington Grand Prix Collection museum. During this period, it was shown in its original configuration with the rear wing removed. In the early 2010s, the car was bought by an anonymous enthusiast, along with several other four-wheel drive Grand Prix machines. The new owner had the car meticulously restored to full running order by specialists Hall & Hall.
