Chassis:
Believed to be the first of five 'Elaboratas' built by Zagato by modifying the factory, Fabio Rapi design. Among its weight saving features are a completely aluminium body, lightweight bumpers and plexiglass side windows. It was acquired new by a Milanese enthusiast and was then famously raced by Anna Maria Peduzzi, who remains as one of the most successful Italian female drivers ever. Using the 8V Fiat, she finished second in the May 1956 Coppa Internazionale delle Dame behind a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. It was then sold to French privateer racer and athlete Jean-Claude Arifon, who campaigned it at Monthléry twice in 1957. Its final competition outing came in a rally during the 1958 season. Although very fond of the car, Arifon sold it in 1959 and from the early 1970s, it was owned for many years by fellow Frenchman Paul Berson. Painted in the Swiss racing colours of red with a white stripe, it was the cover car of the October 1998 edition of the French magazine Auto Passion. Shortly after, it was brought to the United States where it is was comprehensively restored by Tillack & Co. in Redondo Beach, California. Following the restoration, it was rallied and shown at various events before it was sold to the current custodian in 2011. He had the car restored once more, this time by Paul Russell & Co., Chuck Sims and Steve Claassen.
