Chassis:
This Type 57 features one of around 30 Ventoux bodies built between October 1936 and June 1937, which stand out by the three rows of five vertical vents in the engine cover. Completed in April of 1937, it was sold new to a French enthusiast in Roubaix, France, who had already owned at least seven other Bugattis. He would own this Type 57 through to 1946. Among the subsequent owners was Jean-Jacques Peugeot; a scion of the Peugeot family. He owned the car between 1952 and 1961, and had it repainted black from its original green. It has since changed hands several times more but since its repaint, it has not been altered at all and it has also never left its native French. In highly original condition, it will be offered by Artcurial in their 2016 Le Mans Classic sale.
