Chassis:
The fourth J-car built, this chassis was used for the Mk IV's competition debut at the Sebring 12 Hours. Ford only fielded one of the new Mk IVs and assigned Bruce McLaren and Mario Andretti to drive it. The hugely talented pairing qualified the new Ford on pole position and virtually led the race from start to finish. Following its debut victory, chassis J-4 remained in the United States where it was mainly used for testing duties, while four brand new cars were dispatched to France for the successful 24 Hours of Le Mans campaign. In 1970, it was sold by Ford to its first of several private owners. Today, it is part of a phenomenal Ford and Shelby dedicated collection based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
