Chassis:
A works car, this very late Group A 635 CSI was fielded in the 1986 Australian Touring Car Championship for defending champion Jim Richards. Liveried in very striking JPS colours, it was used by Richards with considerable success as he ended the season third in the driver's standings. Following its spell as a works racer, it continued to be campaigned 'Down Under' until the end of the decade. In more recent years, it has joined a formidable American BMW collection based in Washington State. In 2016, it was raced for the owner, fittingly, by an Australian BMW enthusiast during the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion where BMW's centenary was celebrated.
