This 250 MM was bodied by Vignale with a Spyder bodywork before it was delivered to its first, Portuguese owner. From the summer of 1953, he campaigned the car extensively in his native Portugal and also in Brazil. It continued to be raced by a successive Portuguese owner well into the 1955 season. By the late 1970s, it re-appeared in Italy and was comprehensively restored during the 1980s. Following spells in German and Swiss hands, it was acquired by the current, American owner in 1996. He regularly campaigned the car shortly after buying it and also showed it at Pebble Beach in 2007. Since then, it has been restored once more and returned to Pebble Beach in 2016.
