Chassis:
The penultimate F1 GTR built in 1996, this car was allocated to the works supported Team Bigazzi. It was first pressed into service for the official test ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Driven by Steve Soper and Jacques Laffite, it set the 13th fastest time. It was then entered for Soper and Nelson Piquet in the Silverstone 4 Hours race. The talented pairing qualified on pole for the BPR Championship race but could do no better than fourth in the race. For the 24 Hours Le Mans proper, it was fielded for Piquet, Johnny Cecotto and Danny Sullivan. They had an uneventful race and finished eighth after starting 12th. The car was then retired from contemporary racing and retained by BMW. Today, it is part of BMW North America's classic collection.
