Chassis:
Completed in June of 1964, this is the third Ford GT Prototype built and the oldest known survivor. It was raced with little success during the second half of the season before it was sent along with a sister car to Shelby American for further development. Subtle changes were made to improve the car and they instantly paid off as Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby drove chassis GT/103 to victory in the 1965 Daytona 2000 km race. This was the very first major victory for a Ford GT / GT40. Later that year, it also finished second at Sebring and third at Monza. At the end of the season, the GT Prototype was sold to William Wonder, who continued to campaign the car for the remainder of the decade. He would go on to own the car for many more decades until it more recently joined a formidable American collection of Ford and/or Shelby racing cars.
