Chassis:
Completed in April of 1982, this is understood to be the last 5 Turbo built to Group 4 specifications. Upon completion, it was entered in the Ivory Coast or Bandama Rally for Jean Ragnotti. He was running fourth early on but after hitting a bump, the car grounded out causing Ragnotti to leave the road. The impact damaged the steering and additionally sprained the wrist of Ragnotti, prompting the team to withdraw the car. The car was returned to France and Renault offered it to Ragnotti in 1984. He had it stored at the Bozian brothers on Sardenia. The car lay dormant for many years but eventually the brothers decided to have the car restored in 1994 as a gift for Ragnotti's 50th birthday. They took care of the mechanicals while the bodywork was entrusted to Daniel Loison. Renault Sport rally team leader Patrick Landon, who had offered the car to Ragnotti in the first place, supplied the parts that could not be repaired. The work was ready in 1995, in time for Ragnotti's birthday. Retained by the popular rally driver since, it has now been consigned to the February 2017 Artcurial Retromobile sale.
