Chassis:
Delivered new early in 1950 to Scuderia Marzotto, chassis 024MB started life as a 166 MM fitted with a Touring built Barchetta body. In this guise it was raced by Umberto Marzotto in that year's Targa Florio and Mille Miglia. A clutch failure ended the charge early on Sicily while the car suffered a heavy accident in the latter. Although requiring extensive repairs, the chassis was rebuilt and served as the basis for the one-off 'Uovo'. Powered by a 212 Export and then 166 F2 engine, it was raced with some success during the 1951 and and 1952 seasons. Fitted with a 212 Inter engine, it was sold to the United States where it was briefly raced by Ignacio Lozano on the West Coast. Passing through several hands, the one-off Uovo remained in North America through to the mid-1980s. It was then acquired by an Italian enthusiast, who had the car restored before campaigning it in events like the Mille Miglia retrospective for several years. From the late 1990s, it was only very rarely seen in public until it was consigned to the RM Sotheby's 2017 Monterey auction. It was sold to a German enthusiast, and has since been demonstrated at various events including the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
