Chassis:
The second 8CL built, this chassis was sold new to Scuderia Milan. The privateer team entered the car in the 1946 Indy 500 for Luigi Villoresi with an eighth place finish as the result. Brought back to Europe, it was then raced in several Libre events through to 1948 with Giuseppe Farina scoring a victory at Mar del Plata in Argentina. Chassis 3035 was then acquired by American Fred Agabashian, who entered the car with little luck in the 1949 Indy 500. It was then raced at Indy twice more with a 25th with Henry Banks at the wheel as the best result. Following its final Indy appearance, in 1953, the car was finally retired from contemporary racing and eventually donated to Indy 500 Hall of Fame museum. Here it resided for many decades, until it was finally acquired by a German Maserati enthusiast. He had the car restored and prepared for historic racing. At one of its first outings, it competed in the 2017 Goodwood Members' Meeting. It has since been campaigned at historic events all around Europe.
