In July of 1988 singer and guitarist of legendary rock band Pink Floyd, David Gilmour took delivery of this F40 at Fiorano. He was not alone as his fellow band member, Nick Mason, also took delivery on that same day of his F40. Later in the year, both cars were shown at the International Motor Show in Birmingham. The car was sold to a fellow British enthusiast and eventually was acquired by a Norwegian collector in 2008. He acquired the car after a fire had damaged the engine bay. The restoration of the car was entrusted to Dino Service in The Netherlands, who partly through the project, in 2013, acquired the car. The work was completed using mostly original parts and with the help of British specialists Mototechnique. The total bill of the ground-up restoration was in excess of EUR 350,000. Early in 2017, the ex-David Gilmour F40 was finally ready and shortly thereafter, it was consigned to Bonhams' annual Goodwood Festival of Speed sale.
