Chassis:
Commissioned by Italian gentleman racer Mario Damonte, this MT4 was clothed by Vignale with a unique design penned by Giovanni Michelotti. It features very recognisable scalloped sides with prominent vents. The car debuted in the 1952 Pescara 12 Hours where Roberto Scala and Stefano Marsaglia finished 17th overall. Damonte himself later raced the car in the GP Roubaix but with little luck. In 1953, chassis 1120 was entered by the factory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Damonte and 'Heldé'. They finished 18th overall and first in class. Early in 1954 another class win was scored in the Buenos Aires 1000 km, this time with Michel Collange and David Speroni. Collange then raced the car in France with little luck at Reims and in the Tour de France.
Following its contemporary racing career, it eventually ended up in Japanese ownership. In the 2010s, it made its way to the United States. In 2016 the car was shown at the Concours on the Avenue in Carmel. It then was brought back to Italy to star in the 2017 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.
