Chassis:
One of the very first 962s built, this car was originally completed as a Group C car and sold to John Fitzpatrick's Skoal Bandit Porsche Team. They raced the car in several rounds of the 1984 World Championship, including at Le Mans. The best result was a third at Brands Hatch. In the off season, the car was raced to sixth at Sandown Park before it was sold to Busby Racing for his BF Goodrich backed effort. Rebuilt to GTP specifications, it debuted at the 1985 Sebring 12 Hours, where it placed third in the hands of Rick Knoop, Pete Halsmer and Dieter Quester. The car then won the Riverside 600 outright in the hands of Halsmer and John Morton and would finish on the podium several more times. Its final contemporary outing came at the 1986 Daytona 24 Hours where it was entered for Jan Lammers, John Morton, Derek Warwick and Jochen Mass. Unfortunately, an accident ended the charge early. The car was eventually repaired and restored to the BF Goodrich livery and GTP specifications as used by Jim Busby's team.
