Chassis:
Built to the custom order of an enthusiast in San Francisco, this Mulliner Fastback bodied R-Type Continental was shipped to the United States on the SS Dalerdyk in the spring of 1954. Among the special features fitted to this particular car were lightweight seats and an automatic gearbox. Schuman retained the car through to 1960 and it then changed hands only a handful of times, remaining in California until 2010. It covered 100,000 miles and during its lifetime several changes were made like a re-spray to 'smoke green' in 1976 and the retro-fitting of a manual gearbox after it was sold to Europe in 2010. It was also shown twice at Pebble Beach, in 1978 and 1987. One of only 43 left-hand drive examples, it was consigned in 2017 to the Artcurial Automobiles sur les Champs sale.
