Chassis:
Built for the North American Racing Team (NART), this is the sixth and final V12 sports prototype built by Ferrari in 1965. It was fitted with a 4.4-litre, single cam engine and the latest body design, making it one of two 365 P2s. Chassis 0838 debuted at the 24 Hours of Le Mans where Nino Vaccarella and Pedro Rodriguez finished 7th overall. It was then raced by Rodriguez and Jean Guichet to victory in the Reims 1000 km. The car was then brought to the United States where it was raced by Rodriguez and Mario Andretti and Daytona and Sebring in 1966. At the latter, it crashed badly and was subsequently restored and fitted with a long-tail body by Drogo. Painted white, it was raced at Le Mans twice more but with little luck. Re-bodied once more, it was sold to Major William Cooper, who raced it during the 1969 season. During the 1970s, it joined Pierre Bardinon's formidable Mas du Clos collection and was restored to its original 365 P2 guise. In 1983, it joined a prominent American collection and has since been raced and shown at select events.
