Introduced at the 1976 Swedish Grand Prix, chassis PC4/001 was used for eight of the final Grands Prix of the season by John Watson. After a disappointing debut, Watson finished on the podium twice before taking Penske's only Grand Prix victory in Austria. He was not able to repeat these point scoring results later in the year. In 1977 Jean-Pierre Jarier and Hans Binder also failed to score in this PC4. The current owner is a prominent American collector and historic racer, who also owns one of the two PC3s. He is shown in action here during the 2010 Monterey Motorsports Reunion.
