Chassis:
Chassis 30/L/8 was one of four 30s delivered directly to Lotus Southwest in Dallas, Texas. Completed in December of 1964, it was raced extensively by Lotus Southwest owner Homer Rader in SCCA and USRRC sanctioned events. It later passed into hands of Leroy Melcher Jr., who used the car in the Can-Am series. In the late 1960s the bright red Lotus 30 was leased to Universal Studios for use in the movie 'Winning', which starred among others Paul Newman, who was an avid racer himself.
Sometime in the mid-1970s, the obsolete racing cars was road registered. In 1996 a thorough restoration was started, which lasted the better part of five years. From 2006 onwards chassis 30/L/8 has been used sporadically in historic events like the Monterey Historic Automobile Races where it is pictured here at several editions.
