Chassis:
Chassis LML/506 is one of two DB2/4s fitted with a luxurious 'Cabriolet' body by Bertone for Harold 'Wacky' Arnolt. It was sold to a Mrs Edith C Field, a sports car enthusiast from San Francisco. In 1955 she showed the car at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, which at the time was still open to modern cars. She won a third in class for two-seater sports cars $4,500 - $10,000. Some thirty years later the rare custom Aston Martin passed into the hands of former Grand Prix racer, the late Innes Ireland.
Before Ireland could embark on the needed restoration, he was persuaded to sell the car to classic car collector and dealer David Clark. He eventually sold the car to the current owner, who finally initiated the restoration process in 2007. In the expert hands of Goldsmith & Young, the rare Bertone Cabriolet was meticulously restored over a period of years and an expense of around £200,000. Upon completion of the restoration, it was shown at the 2011 AMOC Autumn Concours. Sold to an American collector, it has not been shown at a public event since.
Late in 2020, it was consigned to the 2021 Gooding & Company Scottsdale auctions.
