 The bodywork history

Hi,some history to the car,is that the bodywork was refined at George Ray Coachworks in Chessington Surrey, I was in fact there working on it myself in 1988.
One of the most under-rated cars ever!

Well, this 'silhouette' is a big surprise to me. What a shame it did not happen. The 164 is a very uncommon sight in the UK, having suffered (unfairly) from the reputation Alfas aquired in the early 1980s for poor bodywork. Having owned 3 of these wonderful road cars, I can say with hand on heart that this is one of the most under-valued and under-rated cars ever built. -None of mine showed any signs of rusting. The two litre is sporty and economical but the 3.0 V6 is a lovely brute of an engine. They compare favourably with the BMW 5 series of the same era but at a fraction of the cost. Therefore they are absolute bargains if you can find them, AND a future classic!

This car was designed by my late father in law John Baldwin. It apparently still holds the Nurburgring lap record. I cannot believe someone else has even heard of it. This may have come up twice. I think it did not register first time. He was a nice man though.

holy s#!t a F1 car with '4 doors'. And its an Alfa... How happy does that make Alfisti?? If only you knew! I wish this car had a higher profile... alas, now collecting dust in the history books and in an obscure garage somewhere... almost brings a tear.
