The 1960 Monza win was tainted. The organizers ran the road course/banked oval combination configuration to give the Ferraris an advantage. BRM, Cooper, and Lotus (wisely?)boycotted the race, citing the fragility of their cars and the roughness of the banking.
The field consisted of the Scuderia's F1 cars, some independent backmarkers, and some F2 cars, to include the 1.5L Dino.
Phil Hill and Richie Ginther (2:27 back) were the only cars to finish on the lead lap. Von Trips did finish fifth in the F2 Dino, but he was two laps down.
