Back in the early '70s, I was stationed in the USAF stationed in Bitburg, Germany. Going thru base housing one day, I saw a Ferrari 250 GT parked on the street with a for sale sign in the window. The owner was asking $3995. We talked for a while and he told me he bought exotic cars from a Gentleman in Switzerland named Rob de LaRive Box. I passed on the GT and contacted Rob directly. I told him I was interested in a 250 SWB Berlinetta. He said he had a friend's SWB in stock and he wanted $5000 US for it. But, he felt that he could find me another one in better shape and for less money! Unfortunately, I was due to rotate back to the States soon. Rob sold his friend's car and never came across another one before I left. "He who hesitates, loses."

Sterling Moss used to race one of these, (dark blue and white, whiskey funded and owned by Rob Walker). This car was fitted with a carradio set, which Moss regurlarly used during long distance racing in the UK, just to listen to and not having to worry about radio communication from the pits.
