I agree with almost every word. But I would also suggest that weight is really the biggest issue for Alfa at this point. Traditionally Alfa are makers of small, small-displacement, energetic and sporty cars.
The Brera is none of these things, and weight is the main culprit. I'm not sure there's really a way around some of the biggest contributers to that aspect of the Brera's downfall, such as increased safety standards, but I do have one idea. Unfortunately, that idea may be counterproductive to Alfa's continued survival; simply put, the company needs to stop chasing the Germans. The Brera is too big, and its interior is too nice. It doesn't need to match BMW in these regards, and Alfa really don't know how.
I am glad to see that weight (especially un-sprung) is one of the factors that Prodrive seem to have tried hardest to address, but the situation may be beyond saving. We'll have to wait until someone has actually driven the car to find out.

Oh Alfa, when are we going to see a real car again from you?

All the Pro-Drive suspension tuning expertise will not overcome the fatal flaw in your current models; they are all front wheel drive. Perhaps excusable in your usual production cars but out of order in this beautiful flagship limited to 500 and only for the UK.

What a waste!
