ive ridden in one of these babes and it was a dream. The guy i know has it, and it wasone of about 10. it was the best experience ever sitting in those leather reccaro seats, and having your sweaty palm cling to the door handle as you ripped through the curves. it's one of the most beautiful and elegant porsche bodies, in my opinion. I would only dream of ownig that thing one day. he traded his shelby mustang for it straight up and i think he got the upperhand in the deal.

This car was a masterpiece by Porsche in the late 80s. It's performance was far ahead of everything available at that time. Living in Germoney I manage to see a couple of them life. It's realy still a very modern car and one of the dream cars of the century. But all of you are right ist's number is limited what a shame!

You are right CVM Maggott, only a few 959 were introduced in USA and in fact Keuylian owns one, you can see it in a Road and Track issue of this year. I can also tell you guys that one powerful mexican fellow owns a white one but he has it in England. I can guarantee you that the dream of everyone here is to wake up one day go to the garage, open de door and decide if you will use the Lamborghini 25th. Anniversary Countach or maybe the Ferrari F40 or what about the Porsche 959 that particular day, the three most perfect street racing beasts of the 80's.
It wasn't because it did not pass crash testing.

That would be a real shame for Porsche if the 959 did not pass the U.S crash test. The fact was, Porsche already brought 200 units to the States, but were returned to Europe because Porsche did not agree to submit a few examples for U.S crash test.
 Not the only one...

I would like to make this clear, there is not only one person to own a Porsche 959 in North America. Yes, Porsche did only bring over about 5 of them and no, they did not pass the crash ratings for North America, but private owners and dealerships bought 959s from Europe and brought them over here. It is illegal to buy a registered car from a factory dealership if it did not pass the tests. It is not illegal to bring a car that you bought overseas back to North America for private use for one reason, it was not bought here, so the car would be registered as a pass in crash testing... just not by North American standards. There are quite a few in North America right now, but very few ever leave the garage, or museum where they are... If anybody lives near it, go by Keuylian Motorcars. It's in Beverly Hills, but they are one of the private dealerships that has imported 959s that were purchased in Europe...
 what colour is his 959??

Is it gold because there was a recent sighting of a gold 959 in the states and everybody was just so excited because they thought porsche had brought a few to the states to sell but it turned out to be a specially imported one from Stuggart. The interior, wheels, exterior, exaust pipes, bumpers and antannae and are painted gold. The car really looked cool but the problem is you cannot get one anymore, DAMN IT!!!

I believe the only person owning a 959 in the states is the one and only Bill Gates. I understand that they're illegal here so he must have pulled some strings to get one. I wonder if Seinfeld has one?
 Amazing and timeless!

I love this car,one of my favorite Porsches and cars of all time. It still doesn't look dated in my eyes and consedering it came out in the late 80's Amazing talk about being ahead of it's time. I hate being Poor I can only Dream of one day owning this beauty...so sad is this thing called life..sigh..

This was a brilliant car in the late eighties. However, times have moved on and if you were to drive a 959 today, the average body control and numb steering would disappoint. Still, it's a magical machine, and the latest 911 Turbo wouldn't be the car it is without the 959. One to add to the dream car list... just don't forget the sad reality.
