I do understand. Expensive Italian sports cars have them. So, why not a Cadillac? And, I do understand that a door four feet wide that swings on a hinge needs four feet to open. It's the Barn Door Principle. But, as a child growing up in rural Wisconsin, we not only learned to appreciate barn doors, but we also learned about snow, wind, wind blown snow, hard rain, blowing rain, ice, drizzle, and all of that. One of the lessons learned early in life was to open the car door just barely enough to get in, and then quickly close it behind you so as to keep the snow, wind, rain, ice, drizzle, etc. ... out. My father had a fit when the stuff that was meant to be outside was allowed to come inside and the stuff that he wanted inside, like heat in the winter and cool, conditioned air in the summer, was allowed to go outside. So. Will someone please explain to me how those doors are ever going to keep the stuff that belongs outside ... outside? John M Heltonville, Indiana |
