The Mark Petch car was very impressive in the 'ANZAC' touring car series.
My lasting memory of the car is the sight (and sound!) of it through the 'Cutting' and down the 'Dipper' at Bathurst.
Of course, it still resembled a block of apartments traveling at high speed ........ !

240 was the generic name for the 200-series, which comprised of the 242 (two door sedan), 244 (four door sedan), and 245 (Estate). So technically the turbo was a 242, but everybody refers to it as a 240.
Yes, sucess, but not a '240'

That's a 242, the 240 was the four door, not the 2 door.

Volvo also had some sucess later with both sedan and wagon versions of the 850 and T5

Your article ignores the success that we enjoyed in 1985/86 with the 240T GroupA Volvo including the engine R&D we did here in New Zealand.

We won the Wellington Street Race, the NZ Benson & Hedges Endurance Series, the Australian Touring Car Championship in class, in 1985 and outright in 1986 with Robbie Francevic.

We also further developed the engine and gained 25 BHP over the factory engines, and in 1986 this developement was largely responsible for our Australian Touring car Championship win. Mark Petch, driver and Team owner of MPM.
