Hi First time time on this forum and I love it . I feel that i may be able to contribute in a small way about the history of this car as my Father Graham Thompson owned this car in the town of Bendigo in Victoria Australia from around 1962 ish till 1969 when it was sold to make way for our new farm in Albury. I was only six when it was sold but I do have some wonderful memories of holding my hands ove rmy ears in terror as this beast stormed of the line at Sandown. I remeber sitting in the cocpit of this fabulous car and looking up at he massive steering wheel and those two huge tyres.

Dad bought the car from a dealer in Sydney and from what i understand it was cosmetically in a fairly sun down condition with later model carburettors on it.

He trailered it back to Bendigo towing it with his Vanguard six and comenced to sand it back and repaint it. While stripping it back he uncovered t5he drivers name "Louis Chiron" Ecurie France and took plenty of photo's before repainting it in French Blue.

He located the original carburettors and restored and refitted them . The original moulding around the air intake was gone and the cost of replicating it was going to cost more than was practical at the time to spend. Remember this was 1962 and this was just an old out of date racing car that was worth about 500 pounds back then.
He hand fabricated an aluminium cowling that looked period and fitted well.

Dad Raced the Lago in the Light car club of victoria events of the time such as Sandown and Winton Race courses and was extremely successfull with the car in Hill climb events.

The Lago still holds an in perpetuam record at Mt Tarrengower Hill climb in Maldon. The year after dad set the record the course was shortened by 50 yards to allow for more pull up space.

I will be able to obtain many photo's of this era of dads car soon and i will post them.

Dad is now 78 years old and since the Lago has owned many interesting cars but none as beautiful or as engaging as that Talbot. Nicknamed The "Large Tablet by my at the time 12 year old brother

Hope this helps some and i will try and get some memories in his own words soon

The 1950 Le Mans T26C was a rough-looking affair; the fenders were just bolted to ugly exposed brackets. But it was the end of an era; there would never be another Le Mans winner with outboard fenders/wings.
