Why do I get the feeling that these 3 companies copied each other?

Isn't the MX-5 significantly cheaper than the other two roadsters? And no, they don't really look the same IMO. The MX-5 is conservatively styled, the S2000 looks like a more aggressive roadster and the Z4 is futuristically and controversially designed.
Z4 and S2000 are both in the $40-$50K range whereas the miata is in the mid $20K...Same range as the new Solstice ^_^

you threw in the Mazda Speed Miata, the one with the turbo 1.8 liter. Your everyday MX5 can't compete with the other two cars except for the fact that its a fraction of their price.
Most wanted cars:
Ford GT, Aston Martin DB9, Nissan Skyline R-34 V-Spec II, 2004 SVT Cobra Mustang, VW Golf R32, TVR Cerbera 4.5, Ford Focus RS, Aston Martin Vanquish S
Still waiting.....Shelby Cobra, Shelby GR1, 2006 Ford Lightning, Next generation SVT Mustang Cobra 2006? Mazda Speed RX8
i think the design philosophy is fairly different among the three, despite their similarities. the mx-5 is designed to be a latter day MG, small fairly quick, and cheap. easy performance with as little superfluous packaging as possible. the Z4 is designed to be a luxury sports car, so its quick and nimble, but cushy and relatively comfortable. the S2000 was designed to be a high technology screamer, but with out as much packaging as the Z4, kinda mix between philosophy of the MX-5, but with the tech of the Z4.

You got the Miata right though.
You should thing about the design and looks rather than the price. I was not neccessarily talking about the 1.8 liter model Miata either.Originally Posted by more-boost1555

I was factoring in that nobody ever gets a base model of either of those cars...well nto never, but very rarely. It's very easy to push either of those vehicles into the 40-50K rangeOriginally Posted by Niko_Fx
