Yep, it was a VP with some major sheetmetal and safety updates (VR Acclaim was first Aussie car to have dual airbags as standard). But mechanically and chassis wise, the VR was largely the same as the VP.
From memory it beat a Honda Accord to the title in 1993.
UCP's biggest Ford Sierra RS500 and BMW M3 E30 fan. My two favourite cars of all time.
I think there could be a change of guard coming though. Before the BA won in 02, the Commodore seemed to get it no matter what (Wheels seem to regret awarding the VN today) whilst the Falcon always missed it. Holden last won in 01 with the Barina, so you have to think that either the VE will continue the tradition, or Holden are in for a dry spell

I have always felt the VN isn't in the VP if that makes sense,Originally Posted by motorsportnerd
The feel of the VN the sound is so different to the VP, VN's were even more tail happy but a very ruff car.
I drive my mates VR it feel no better then my car infact my feels better quieter more lively, Both have the same type of body roll to i noticed on the same big long winding turn.
I would recommend the VS to anyone that was looking to buy a holden commodore pre VT.

IIRC the VR update included significant chassis changes - a new reinforced front structure with different chassis rails & wider track. Related to above, on VR its significant that camber was (finally) adjustable as well - before that (and the later Pedders kit) a bad dose of negative camber meant a trip to the panel beaters to get your Commy bent back into shape
It was only place differnt becuase of the IRS they were bringing on.
My mates VR berlina has a live rear, IRS was option back then on it.

I think it was VT they made it standard. Given the bad rear tyre wear it had, i think i wouldve rathered the live axle

I remember it on the VS Executive but I'm not sure if it was standard or option? Yeah they were bad for tyre wear, I think everyone should have had a camber kit done.

Its been optional since the VN and im pretty sure it still was on the VT, VX2 though was when they finally had it sorted across the whole range

VP Calais had it standard, Killed tyres but it was more settle in the rear end.
