Someone here doesn't understand Lamborghini then.
This is a small tradition Lamborghini does.

Starting with the Countach, they make pretty much 1 model for about a decade with different versions of it.
    The Diablo=1990-2001
    The Murc.=2003-Present
And the Countach...well, about 20 years.

Lamborghini builds cars to perform extremely well, not to beat everyone on the track.

Actually, the Mucielago is from 2002.

I don't think it is "tradition".

I think you'll find it is a chronic lack of sufficient financial stability to invest in new models.

The typical lead time of new models is usually a minimum of 5 years, and the Murcielago has only been about for 2 - 3 years.

If you are going to launch a new supercar every 2-3 years, you will not be making the most of the investment that goes into tooling, engineering etc.

I would agree that if Lamborghini couldn't sell the Murcielago in high enough numbers, then it would make good financial sense to replace it.

But by giving it a mid-life make over they can continue to scrape profits out of the venture.

It also means they don't have to rush development of the eventual replacement, so they are more likely to get it right.
    Thanks for all the fish

The difference in numbers gotta come from the Brake Horse Power.
Is that the power metered at the brakes or while braking?
Brake horsepower is horsepower at the flywheel, measured by the amount of braking force it would need to counter it. I think. anyway, it's at the crank. and it might make no sense, but there are plenty of HP > PS calculators online. find one.

Maybe you should have read the rest of my post. I did find the reason for the difference...
