    LOL !!

Looks like a great car though, the classic 'small car - big engine' formula to fun

(in that Simca the cap was behind the lhs tail-light assembly which swung out, and was so beautifully disguised with no discernible gap to the bodywork so you couldn't pick it even if up close. The release mechanism was a totally obscure little piece of coiled rod, painted in body colour and hidden inside the boot panelling among the wiring in the quarter panel - even the servo mechanic couldn't find it!)

It is great fun, went for another spin at lunch. Im expecting the fuel card to arrive today so we can go fill it up and go for a good long hoon

That Simca sounds fascinating. Clearly a case of 'well I think its a good idea to put it there' by the designer

it's like his wife kept badgering the designer with all these ideas she has, so he put them in to shut her up

Thats actually an incredibly smart solution for hiding the fuel filler, although the uninitiated it would be truly horrid.

Lucky the Patrol is available, I suppose.

Perhaps you should look at a 959 Paris-Dakar for your next car?

ABC TV ran a feature story this week on this very thing, with stunning aerial footage and it even contains a mini-feature on the Donald Cambell LSR attempt on Lake Eyre!

If you missed it, you can access the story online. Its not quite as impressive in this small-screen format as it was on the TV, but still well worth a look imo - including for the 'non aussie' UCP members overseas. The floodwaters have taken four months to arrive, originating thousands of kms away, in the biggest flood event witnessed since (at least) the 1970s...

Just click on this 2nd video link on the list @ right ... "Lake Eyre blossoms after decade long drought (7.30 Report)"
